Purpose

The Kilimanjaro expedition invites ACU alumni into a journey of challenge, connection, and spiritual renewal. More than a hike, this experience offers a chance to reconnect with the core spirit of Study Abroad—adventure, reflection, and community. As we ascend the mountain together, shared readings, guided discussions, and intentional reflection will invite deeper conversations about faith, purpose, and the evolving shape of our lives. Our hope is that this experience will strengthen old bonds, spark new friendships, and remind us of the power of shared experience. This expedition is an invitation to step away from routine, embrace the unknown, and return transformed.

You will be encouraged in the program application to tell us more about who you are and to reflect upon your spiritual journey during the last decade. We want to know why this expedition caught your attention, what motivates you, and how you want to use this experience to advance the next chapter of your life.

After our program application deadline (Oct. 1: priority deadline, Nov 1, final deadline), Mark and Brad will be in touch with the group each month to shepherd you through the process of preparing (both physically and mentally) for the road ahead. To guide our discussions, the group will be assigned readings (don’t worry—no 300 page books will be required…) and reflective projects that will help build a foundation for our time together. We aim for this to be a time of exploration, discovery, and reawakening of our imagination—a true expedition—that will ultimately lead to deeper levels of truth and hope.
